AFL Finals: Crows vs Swans Live Blog

Live from AAMI Stadium, we have the 2nd AFL quarterfinal between the Adelaide Crows and the Sydney Swans. The Crows had had an easy run into the finals. Will they be up for it? Sydney have lost three of their last four. Can they turn it around? The fire alarm has already gone off in my building once today. If it happens again, will I ignore it? Join me at 3:15pm and find out!

3:14 – Disaster! I’ve already had to bench my first choice computer. I’ve got the number 2 fired up. I hope it does the job!

3:15 – Fox or Channel 7? A free subscription would make it an easier choice…

3:16 – First Bounce!

3:20 – First score. A behind for Sydney. Should have been a major.

3:23 – After Walker evens up with one that shaves the post, Swans hit back straight away as Goodes breaks away and pots one from about 40m out! Swans:7 – Crows:1

3:26 – After blowing out after chasing Goodes, Walker takes another contested mark and boots the Crows’ first. What a guy, what a kick, what a mullet! Swans:7 – Crows:7

3:28 – Apparently Goodsie is out of form. I hope for the Crows’ sake that he doesn’t find it because he’s already two goals in. Swans:13 – Crows:7

3:33 – Jetta caught throwing twice. He’d probably make a good halfback. Crows can’t capitalise. Swans:13 – Crows:8

3: 43 – First quarter done! A lot of running, a lot of contact. Sydney burst out of the blocks and held off a late quarter Crows surge. Not much in it. Swans:13 – Crows:7

3:50 – And we’re back. Apparently Sydney are being too defensive. Is that why they’ve scored more goals?

3:52 – Is it just me or does Sam Jacobs look a little like a Rocky 5-era Dolph Lundgren?

3:53 – Sorry, while I was spell checking Lundgren (still doesn’t look right), the Swannies goaled! Swans:19 – Crows:8

3:56 – Crows falling off the Swans. Reid allowed to lead. Marks, then goals. Swans:26 – Crows:10

4:00 – Sydney running away with it. On top in disposals and Goodes is on song. Morton goals. Swans32- Crows:11

4:09 – Goodes and Jetta team up for explosive runaway goal! Swans:38- Crows:12

4:11 – The Crows receive a timely captain’s goal through van Berlo! Swans:38- Crows:18

4:18 – Goodsie on fire. Great mark and a great 3rd goal! Swans:44 – Crows:18

4:19 – “Shaw and Smith. A nice wine from the Adelaide Hills and some nice Adelaide defenders.” Wow.

4:20 – Half time! Swans in charge but Crows were threatening a comeback late into the half. Adam Goodes best on ground by a mile. Swans:44 – Crows:18

Holy jawline Batman!

4:40 – And we’re back. Leigh Matthews has called first goal wins!

4:48 – Most of the play in the Crows’ 50 but they don’t look like scoring any majors. Swans getting their scrap on. Swans:45 – Crows:21

4:53 – The speedsters go toe-to-toe and Jetta runs down Dangerfield!

4:56 – Ted Richards vs Taylor Walker has been the match up of the weekend. Walker marking well but can’t buy a goal. Looks to be blowing pretty hard.Swans:45 – Crows:22

5:02 – The Crows prevent the first goal-less finals quarter since 1966 with a goal to Sloane. Swans:45 – Crows:28

5:04 – And Sydney strike back with another Morton goal. Swans:51 – Crows:22

5:06 – It’s the last break and the Crows win the 3rd by a point. For a goal starved quarter, that was exciting football!

5:12 – The Crows needed a quick goal and they get one through Johncock! Swans:51 – Crows:34

5:16 – Sydney sub Luke Parker returns serve for the Swans with his first kick. Swans:58 – Crows:34

5:18 – Ok, settle down boys. I’ve been lulled into a false sense of security and now my clumsy typing fingers (the two middle ones) can’t keep up. Crows goal with Callinan but they need to go back to back. Swans:58 – Crows:40

5:20 – “You get the feeling that next goal could be the winner” How many times can you say that in a game?

5:24 – According to popular sentiment, Jetta has just won the game for the Swans with long range effort. Swans:65 – Crows:40

5:31 -A behind for Johncock. A goal would have got us back to another ‘next goal wins’ match. Swans:65 – Crows:41

5:34 – “Pyke in line for most improved in the the Universe!”. That would be quite a trophy.

5:35 – Kennedy pushes Swans lead out to 30! Swans earn the week off and a home semi. Crows need to finish strong because they’ll need to take some form into next week’s sudden death clash. Swans:71 – Crows:41

5:42 – Final Siren! Swans 11-5-71 Crows 5-12-42
