The New Penrith Panthers Logo Appears To Have Been Inspired By Car Airbrushing

The Penrith Panthers are sitting at tenth and still very much in the hunt for finals contention in this year’s NRL premiership race but as of quite recently have plummeted to dead last in non-terrible club logos (see that gross thing above).

The Mountain Men revealed their new-look shield at a members function held at Centrebet Stadium in Penrith last night and the thing sure does look like they found some amateur airbush artist named Chad off Gumtree and asked him to paint a cool picture of a panther then asked some board member’s fourteen year old nephew to do their best bubble writing then combined those two things to make what is now the most aesthetically unappealing logo in all of Australian sports. You are now free to go the Townsville Crocodiles.

The club also took the opportunity to announce a two year contract extension for coach Ivan Cleary, not that anyone in attendance could tear their eyes away from the crimes against design slated to be emblazoned across all jerseys, hats and marketing collateral from the start of the 2014 home and away season.

We’re aren’t design gurus or anything but I think we can all agree that the Panthers logo has gotten increasingly worse since the 90s.

Fucked this one up, Phil.
