Rory Sloane withdrew from the Adelaide Crows final game of the season last weekend, with the club citing a “private family matter” at the time.

This afternoon, Belinda Sloane – a Channel 7 presenter – confirmed the devastating news that their son, Leo Rory Sloane, was delivered stillborn last week in a moving post on Instagram.

Last week we said goodbye to our beautiful little man. Leo Rory Sloane was born into the world still, but perfect. Thanks for making us the proudest parents and filling our hearts with love beyond measure, the moments we had with you are now beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

The couple had previously announced the pregnancy back in April, prior to Rory signing a new five-year deal with the Crows in July.

The Crows organisation and extended family has reportedly rallied around the Sloane family in this extremely difficult time, with the team’s social media feed posting in solidarity a short time ago.

An incredibly sad time for the Sloanes, and our sincerest thoughts are with them.
