North Melb FC Upgrades Logo To Furious Alpha Roo After Years Of Fan Demands

The North Melbourne Kangaroos have bowed to fan pressure and changed the logo they’ve been using since 2007 – on that copped constant heat from fans for being a little bit lame.

A little bit lame, you say? Why’s that? Well, despite the fact we all know kangaroos are extremely buff, ripped creatures who would kick you to death without a second thought, the North Melbourne logo showed an extremely docile creature who looks like it would much rather hug and befriend you. I mean really:
North Melbourne CEO Carl Dilena said members had been asking the club to take on a different look for a very long time, which is a diplomatic way of saying they wanted a picture of a kangaroo that looked like it could really rip shit up.
“We took on a lot of feedback from our members who had been calling for a change,” Dilena said. “It was clear to us that the old logo no longer represented what we stood for or what we aspired to be.”

He said it was difficult to really nail what they were looking for (which, for the record, is a really mean-looking kangaroo):
Getting a designer or illustrator to capture a determined, dynamic, strong and proud looking Kangaroo was problematic. The early concepts we were presented with didn’t quite hit the mark.

Here’s what they’ve come up with:

There we go. That’s the psychotic kangaroo the fans so desperately craved. “He has a real sense of purpose and, most importantly, we’ve reinstated the name North Melbourne as promised,” said Dilena. “I think he embodies everything about this great club. Who we are, where we’ve been and where we’re headed.”

Let’s see if a more badass looking kangaroo translates into a premiership.
