Following his on-court sledge yesterday—the lowest burn in the book, delivered to Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka—Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has publicly apologised, after being fined USD$10,000 (about AU$13K) by the Association of Tennis Professionals.
On Facebook, Kyrgios claimed that his comments “were made in the heat of the moment and were unacceptable on many levels.”
Dude. Ya think?
“I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the comments I made during the match last night vs Stan…

On Twitter, Wawrinka called out Kyrgios’ behaviour, saying, “What was said I wouldn’t say to my worst enemy. To stop [sic] so low is not only unacceptable but also beyond belief.”
An especially low blow considering how brutally Kyrgios was wiping the court with Wawrinka anyway, in a match that came to a close one set early, in Kyrgios’ favour: 6-7(8), 6-3, 4-0.
An ATP spokesperson announced the fine Kyrgios received for his actions overnight, according to the ABC.
“The ATP has announced that Nick Kyrgios has been fined the maximum on-site amount of $US10,000 for an insulting comment he made to Stan Wawrinka during their second round match at the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada,”
YA BURNT.
