Grant Hackett Arrested In Melbourne After Alleged In-Flight Confrontation

Olympic champion Grant Hackett has reportedly been detained by Australian Federal Police, following an altercation on a flight from Adelaide to Melbourne.

The Australian reports the 35-year-old was taken into custody after confronting the passenger in front of him over the reclined nature of his seat. In a statement, the AFP say they’re still looking into the matter, but “at this time no charges have been laid.”

The swimmer was returning from Adelaide after an unsuccessful push to crack the Rio Olympics squad; if he succeeded, he would have become the oldest swimmer we’ve ever chucked in the Olympic pool.

We’ll update this story as it develops.
