Fuck Yeah Melbourne: The On-Fire Matildas Are Headed Your Way In November

Sports fans in New South Wales have recently been treated to the awesome spectacle that is the absolutely on-fire Matildas playing beautifully in matches against international teams. Now, in great news for Victorians, your chance to see the team in action is about to come.

After defeating Brazil in two games in the last week in front of a combined 30 000 excited fans, the FFA and Victorian Government have today announced that the Matildas will face China PR in a two-match international series in November.

The teams will play on Wednesday 22nd of November at AAMI Park, and on Sunday 26th of November at Simonds Stadium, in Geelong.

FFA’s CEO David Gallop was stoked to announce the matches, following on from the team’s recent popularity.

The Westfield Matildas have captured the hearts and minds of Australian girls, boys, women and men in the last week with big crowds coming out to watch them play brilliant football and show their professionalism, humility and class off the pitch. These matches will provide Australian sports fans with two more chances to see the Westfield Matildas on home soil.

Gallop also spoke about the importance of supporting the team and how it would impact Australia’s bid to host the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

With our bid to host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup starting to gain momentum, this is also a great opportunity to showcase our venues and ability to host major Women’s Football matches.

Coach Alen Stajcic was more focused on the games as a solid hit out ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup next year.

The recent two matches against Brazil were extremely important for our preparation for the next year’s Asian Cup. China is a quality opposition and we have a long history of tough matches against them. I’m sure the players are once again looking forward to running out in front of large and vocal home crowd.

The home crowd should be large and vocal, because this team completely rules, and will be at full-strength once again for the Melbourne games. This means getting to witness Australia’s current best athlete Sam Kerr on the pitch. What could be better?

The teams haven’t played officially since 2010, China are always very tough competition and it will be so exciting to see what the ever-improving Matildas can do against them.

So get out and support this amazing team with a bunch of your mates. You can grab tickets for the matches here.
