England Brexited The Euro 2016 With An Extremely Sad 2-1 Loss To Iceland

Things are not going so well for England on the whole this week. The United Kingdom has lost its final blue chip AAA credit rating over Brexit, and now they’ve cratered hard in the Euro 2016 with a 2-1 loss to Iceland.

It started well, with captain Wayne Rooney scoring in a penalty in the third minute, but Iceland quickly equalised the score and pulled ahead in minute 18. I guess… better luck next year, chaps? Sorry ’bout the humiliation and all that.
England’s manager Roy Hodgson immediately resigned after the loss, presumably so he can go live in the woods for 100 years until the nation forgives him for his awful sins. And it looks like this nation will not forgive any time soon.

Iceland is the smallest nation to ever compete in the Euro 2016, and they only count a single English Premier League player in their ranks – Gylfi Sigurdosson of Swansea City. To be fair though, they are actually a decent side – this isn’t quite like England being dominated by a Faroe Islands Under 9s team.
That said, still pretty embarrassing. Can someone see if England are okay, guys? They’ve had a rough week.
