Australian T20 Rankings Hit All Time Low

Oh Cricket, what happened? Once the bastion of outright Australian domination, the game has passed us by in recent times with the Aussies tumbling down the world rankings in all forms of the game. Currently we sit 3rd in Test rankings, 4th and ODI, and way down at 9th in T20. For a little perspective, that’s wedged between Ireland and Bangladesh!

Last nights insipid all out for 89 effort against Pakistan in the opening T20 match in Dubai is Australia’s second lowest total in the shortest form of the game. Furthermore, Pakistan cruised to the total with 31 balls remaining; another unwanted record for Australia. All this and the Sri Lankan T20 World Cup only two weeks away. Alarm bells aren’t just ringing, women and children are being tossed from the damn life boats as the Australian team frantically attempts to find a way to score in a brisk manner on the sub-continental pitches. Maybe David Warner’s bat lift is to high? Perhaps Pat Cummins needs to shorten his run up? Could Xavier Doherty benefit from bowling some ball’s that actually spin? Or maybe they just get back to the basics.
