Katy Perry Just Invented Cricket Bats At The Women’s T20 World Cup & Left Shark Is Shaking

Left Shark is no more. Say hello to the the glamorous, anthropomorphic cricket bats which were the backup dancers for Katy Perry’s performance at the Women’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne.

Why? Because it’s the the biggest match in women’s cricket! Australia is playing India, and Katy Perry played two of her fav bangers.

During “Roar”, the singer performed in a Venus-symbol dress while backup dancers held thunderbolts which read “GRL PWR”. Not only is the Women’s World Cup, but it’s International Women’s Day, no less.

As the song reached the chorus, we were treated to an aerial shot revealing that the stage is shaped like a Venus symbol. Katy struts down with the same energy we saw at the Superbowl halftime show in 2015.

It was followed by “Firework” which is of course a crowd-pleaser. Certified banger “Never Really Over” did not make an appearance in the brief set, but it’s probs an inappropriate song for a cricket match anyway.

And that’s it, just two songs! But keep in mind that this was an opening performance, and there was still a cricket match to be played.

The performance comes literally three (3!) days after announcing her pregnancy. And yes, she most definitely rocked the baby bump on stage.

The ICC haven’t uploaded the full performance to social media just yet, but thankfully stan Twitter were able to uncover everything for the rest of us:
