Aussie Olympic Water Polo Team Quarantined In Rio After Being Hit W/ Virus

In a major setback for the Australian women’s water polo team, who took home bronze at the London Olympics in 2012, have copped a bout of gastro – four member of the team have been quarantined from the rest of the team for 48 hours.

Though everyone’s talking about Zika, that’s not what’s happening here. It’s believed that the athletes caught a gastro-intestinal virus while training in Rome. There’s currently no word as to whether they’ll be replaced for the competition, but it’d be a massive blow to the team if so.
“Dr David Hughes will keep a close eye on them and they’ll stay in there for 48 hours until after they’re all cleared,” said Kitty Chiller, Australia’s chef de mission.

“There will be no interaction between anyone and the village for the next 48 hours.”

The team is a strong medal hope for Australia, so let’s hope they’re back on their feet ahead of their game with Russia on Tuesday. C’mon. Go you good things.
