Accused Killer Zlatko Sikorsky Remains Holed Up In Sunshine Coast Apartment

Accused killer Zlatko Sikorsky, who is wanted by police in connection with the murder of teenager Larissa Beilby, remains holed up in an apartment at the Sunshine Coast, where a police siege has continued for almost a day.

It is understood that Sikorsky is alone in a unit in Alexandra Headland, north of Brisbane. It is unclear whether he is armed, but police declared an emergency situation at around 3.25pm on Friday, evacuating residents from the building.

Specialist police are negotiating with the 34-year-old, and have said that they will “take as long as they take” to resolve the situation. 9 News report that his father was also on the scene to speak with him last night, and the two spent “most of the evening” communicating.

Earlier this afternoon, as the siege continued to drag on, Queensland Police thanked local residents for their “understanding and patience”, and reassured the community that every attempt is being made to resolve the situation peacefully.

Zlatko Sikorsky has been wanted since March, after breaching parole conditions, but police began a manhunt on Wednesday after he was observed fleeing a Stapylton property, before the discovery of a young woman’s body in a  barrel on the back of a ute.

Briefing the media late last night, Superintendent Daryl Johnson said that the investigation into the alleged killer has been ongoing for “several days”, adding “I don’t know the rationale behind why this person is here on the Sunshine Coast.”
