Watch Tony Abbott’s Sydney Siege Address to the Nation

Earlier today, following a meeting of cabinet’s National Security Committee, Prime Minister Tony Abbott addressed Australia about the siege in Sydney’s Martin Place, that ended with the deaths of two hostages, as well as the gunman.
He offered condolences to the nation as well as the families of those involved, and praised law enforcement agencies for their response to yesterday’s events, which were “tragic beyond words”.
You can watch his speech below:

“Plainly, there are lessons to be learned and we will thoroughly examine this incident to decide what lessons can be learned,” he said, “but I do want, now, in the hours immediately after the conclusion of the siege, to offer these words of comfort to those caught up in it and reassurance to the Australian people.”
