Until late last year, the documentary that director Alex Gibney had made about Lance Armstrong was called The Road Back, and was an uplifting tale about a cancer-surviving sporting hero and his unlikely and inspirational 2009 comeback. Following his admission to Oprah of “You know all those drugs I said I didn’t do? I kinda sorta actually did them”, the film now has become something entirely different: a thorough examination of “The hero who would say anything”, and his dramatic fall from grace. The film is now titled The Armstrong Lie, and the trailer has just been released.
