WATCH: Margaret Court Got Her Arse Handed To Her On ‘The Project’

Good tennis player but bad opinion-haver Margaret Court is back in the news thanks to an extremely ill-advised and wildly homophobic open letter to Qantas CEO Alan Joyce
In case you missed it, the letter makes it abundantly clear that she reckons same-sex marriage is on par with chucking babies into the flaming pits of hell itself, and announces that she’ll be boycotting Qantas from now on thanks to its support of marriage equality.
People have responded with exasperated sighs, eye rolls, and suggestions that we rename the Margaret Court Arena to something a bit less… icky.

The Project somehow convinced Court that it would be a good idea to appear on their program tonight, and the interview went about as well as you might imagine.
Highlights include Waleed Aly raising the very good point that around 64% of all Australians support marriage equality and Court dismissing it with a resounding “that’s just your opinion, man“; Court later suggesting that 92% of LGBTQIA people had been abused as children (statistics are fun when you’re using them to support your bigoted bullshit!); and her astonishing insistence that people who are anti-marriage equality are being bullied.
Yep! Bullied! To quote:
“At the moment it’s like nobody can say anything. We’re getting persecuted, we’re getting bullied.”
Yeah Margaret – giving you a platform in a major Australian newspaper, inviting you onto a popular news show, and (far more importantly) having politicians too spineless to actually stand up to your homophobic, backwards, MINORITY viewpoint and do something about the disgraceful systemic inequality in this country: that’s all bullying.
She also got in a jab at Safe Schools which might bring your lunch up, so fair warning. You can watch the entire train wreck below:
