As is the way in 2016, Hollywood can’t keep a good thing hidden. To think they could hide from rabid Star Wars fans is madness and folly.
The first teaser from new film Star Wars Rogue One has leaked online in the best way it possibly could: shaky camera footage, posted to YouTube dozens of times by different uploaders before it got taken down. Have a look at this one:
Rogue One is the first of Disney’s planned standalone Star Wars films, released in the years in between the main releases so completely deranged Star Wars lovers don’t riot while waiting for Luke Skywalker.
The film is set before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and tells the story of a group of Rebel starfighters who are plotting to steal the plans for the first Death Star. Your dad is probably going to love it.
The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen and Australia’s own Ben Mendelsohn.
There’s no way to know if this trailer is fake, but let’s be honest – if it is, it’s not a particularly ambitious fake. It teases the silhouette of some giant AT-ATs, some space, the hint of a battle.
We’ll see – it’s rumoured to drop officially before Batman vs. Superman.
