Watch Banksy’s Harrowing Short Doco On His New Work & Visit To The Gaza Strip

Prolific street artist and forever-anonymous graffiti king Banksy is at it again, after a short doco has been posted online – featuring his infamously gritty murals which have recently popped up in The Gaza Strip.

Posting on his Youtube channel is the short film, “Make This The Year You Discover A New Destination,” a harrowing, dark parody on tourism promos, taking a look at the devastated streets of Gaza. The video highlights Gaza as “well away from the tourist track” and, “the locals like it so much they never leave (because they’re not allowed to)” while wading through the rubble and ruins of Gaza’s streets. The video also reveals some of Banksy’s most recent work: kids swinging around an observation pole, an enormous kitten playing amongst the ruins, and this:

On the kitten mural, Banksy said, “A local man came up and said ‘Please — what does this mean?’ I explained I wanted to highlight the destruction in Gaza by posting photos on my website — but on the internet people only look at pictures of kittens.”
