Western Australia Police have confirmed that seven people have been found dead in a suspected shooting incident at a property near Margaret River, after attending the scene early this morning.

Police were called to the rural property in Osmington, around 20km north east of Margaret River, where they discovered seven people deceased in and around the property.

The deceased were comprised four children and three adults.

Police confirmed that five bodies – that of four children and one adult – were discovered inside the property. The bodies of two additional adults were located a short distance away.

Major Crimes investigators from Perth are en route from Perth to assist local police and homicide detectives in what’s believed to be a very large-scale crime scene.

Two firearms were recovered outside the property.

WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson fronted media to confirm the “horrific” incident, stating that police received a call to attend the scene shortly after 5am this morning.

Dawson stated that the victims appeared to have suffered gun shot wounds, but would not provide any confirmation of injuries beyond that.

He stated that police did not have any additional information that would “raise further public concern.”

Police are expected to be at the property for several days while the investigation into this horrific tragedy takes place.

The names and ages of the deceased have not been released to the public at this stage.
