Turnbull Goverment Scraps Uni Deregulation, Waves Bye To Abbott Reforms

Happy days are upon us, mates: the government has decided to scrap its shit controversial plans to let universities set their own fees from next year, just three months out of 2016.

Introduced by Christopher Pyne, who was education minister under the Abbott government, the higher education bill would have seen uni fees deregulated, and course funding cut by 20%.

Twice the bill has been introduced to Parliament, and twice it’s been knocked back. According to reports, the current education minister, Simon Birmingham, will announce today that he *won’t* be introducing it for a third time. YES THANK YOU, OUR WALLETS THANK YOU ALSO.

It’s time to bust out the $12.99 goon sack and treat. yo. self. Any potential new reforms won’t be introduced till 2017 at the earliest, so there’s at least another year of plain ol’ regular uni fees coming your way.

Bullet: dodged.
