Triple J has announced who will be taking the reins of the coveted Breakfast shift in 2021, waking you up with red-hot radio every weekday. Bryce Mills and Ebony Boadu have been crowned as the new brekkie legends, stepping into the morning shift (and the early wake-ups) from the start of the new year.
The announcement comes after Sally & Erica resigned from the slot in mid-November effective immediately, after one year in the spot and working for a few years covering weekend breakfast and other progams. After they left, Bryce stepped into the morning role to see out the rest of 2020.
Both Bryce and Ebony have become fan favourites with the Triple J listeners, with Bryce getting his start at the youth broadcaster back in 2018 before jumping on the airwaves to cover shifts on Breakfast, Drive, Mornings and Lunch, as well as hosting Weekend Arvos this year.
As for Ebony, she’s been hooning around in Sydney for a while now, with stints on FBi Radio, SBS and MTV, before jumping onto Triple J’s House Party at the start of 2019, taking over for KLP. Now Ebony’s stepping into the Brekkie slot, it’s yet to be announced who will be taking on House Party.
“Over the past two years I’ve had the most incredible time spending my Saturday nights DJing and partying with people all over the country,” Ebony said.
“I’ve been so humbled and grateful for that opportunity alone, but to now be able to wake up with triple j listeners and hang out every single day in my dream workplace is still something I’m trying to fully process. I’m so stoked to have the opportunity to share my favourite new songs, talk to artists that I admire and make 1000s of new friends every morning!”
The new Brekkie slot isn’t the first time you will hear Bryce and Ebony working together on the radio, with both of them teaming up to fill in on both Brekkie and Drive throughout this year while Sally & Erica and Lewis Hobba and Michael Hing have a (much-deserved) rest.
They’re also very partial to a solid prank, like the time they decided to rebrand the entire station’s stings.
But now, it’s official. It’s legit. Bryce & Ebony are your brand new Triple J Brekkie hosts for the new year, and it sounds like it’s going to be a wild ride.
