Despite there being 26 more days left in the calendar year, MMXIV is officially so yesterday now that Instagram – a photo sharing app popular amongst popular teens – has put an abrupt stopper on everything by anointing the most liked photos from the year that was. No other submissions welcome, so honestly don’t even bother, amateurs.
Those photographs are, in order of popularity from most to least, obviously: Kanye West’s ersatz Annie Leibowitz magnum opus homage to his own glory and wife, who posted the candid image; a buncha jerks in a confessional booth [TBC] seeking atonement for wasting everyone’s time; and two great time gals with a sexy passion for eradicating homelessness amongst the youth population of Los Angeles. All of which should come as little of a surprise – Kimberly Kardashian West, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande have upwards of 20 million followers each; their elected photos each depicting watershed moments not only in the year in popular culture, but the entire scope of human history. It’s a beautiful thing.
