The Weekender Fest Drops Its 2014 Lineup

The Weekender, Melbourne’s annual punk rock gathering of all things great and small has revealed all the vital details for its 2014 incarnation, and it looks to be an absolute ball tearer this time around. Now in its sixth year, the three-day festival is the brainchild of Poison City Records founder Andrew Hayden and is run in conjunction with Sydney’s Resist Records. This year’s bill is headlined by the reunited seminal US emo outfit Knapsack, and features a swathe of local legends.
For the first time, this year’s festival will cram three days of festivities into four venues, with the Saturday line bill splitting in twain between beloved neighbouring city-fringe venues, the John Curtin Hotel and Public Bar. As well as stops at Richmond’s Corner Hotel, and the Weekender’s spiritual home, Footscray’s Reverence Hotel.
Along with Knapsack, fellow US fuzz-lords Pity Sex are making the trip over to join the incredibly stacked bill of local champions, headed up by The Bennies, Luca Brasi, Harmony, The Gifthorse, and The Smith Street Band’s frontman, Wil Wagner.
The Weekender takes place on August 22nd, 23rd and 24th. Tickets go on sale Thursday, April 17th through Poison City Records.
Pin your badges to your jackets, trim your beards, and cut the sleeves off all your shirts. It’s party time!
