The Razzie Noms Are Out And Hooo Boy Did ‘Zoolander 2’ Cop It

Sweet blessed awards season, how we love it so. Though the Academy Award nominations aren’t due until later tonight, the other end of Hollywood’s spectrum of glitter to gloop has bestowed upon us the nominations for the illustrious 37th Golden Raspberry Awards, as is now film industry tradition.
The Razzies “celebrates” all the over-budgeted crapulence that Hollywood can muster, raining much deserved shite on the worst of the worst.
And it would seem that it’s poor Ben Stiller‘s turn to feel the wrath of the awards. The much-derided ‘Zoolander 2‘ leads the charge this year with a whopping eight nominations, including nods for Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screen Combo, and Worst Director. In fact one of the few categories in which it was spared was Worst Screenplay, which given its track record through the rest of the nominations is frankly something of a minor miracle.
Elsewhere, ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ didn’t fare any better, also picking up eight nominations overall, with Ben Affleck‘s tilt as Batman a particular bugbear of the nominating committee.
The extremely ill-conceived ‘Dirty Grandpa,’ a production which completely failed to recognise late-career Robert De Niro‘s hot streak of phoning-it-the-fuck-in, picked up five nominations.
And, in a decision that’s somehow both correct and utterly crook at the same time, Tyler Perry was nominated in the ‘Worst ACTRESS‘ category for his 495th stint in the shoes of god-fearing pander machine Madea.
The Razzies are handed out the day before the Oscars ceremony, on Saturday February 25th (US time).

Two final thoughts:
  1. Suicide Squad‘ should’ve been nominated for many, many, many more awards.
  2. Zoolander 2‘ should automatically receive everything they were nominated for simply because they outright refused to call the film ‘2oolander‘ which was the OBVIOUS NAME, YOU FOOLS.
