Sydney man Matthew Flame has been charged with the murder of Liam Anderson, the 26-year-old son of Angry Anderson of Rose Tattoo.

The ABC reports that 20-year-old Flame and Anderson were good friends, who left a party together in the city in the early hours of Sunday morning before returning to Queenscliff, Northern Sydney. It was there, in Pavilion Park, that they got into a physical altercation, ending in Anderson’s death.

Witnesses describe seeing the two friends throwing punches at each other, and hearing shouting and moaning. It reportedly took several police officers to pull Flame off Anderson, and he was apparently still throwing punches when emergency services arrived.

An emergency helicopter airlifted Anderson to hospital, but he died of head injuries shortly afterwards.

Angry Anderson received the news while on tour in Perth, and has returned to Sydney this morning. Friends of the family have been laying flowers at the scene of the attack, and outside the Anderson home in Beacon Hill.

Tributes from the Australian music scene have begun to join those from Liam’s friends, with the Superjesus posting on Facebook to say:

The Superjesus would like to send our sincere condolences to our dear friend Angry Anderson on the loss of his beautiful son Liam. Our thoughts are with him and his family

Flame has been denied bail and will appear at Manly local court today.
