Shortlist For New NZ Flag Announced! Sadly, These Entries Didn’t Make It

Sadly, the ‘feels bad man’ design AND the stunning ‘Kiwi shooting laser’ design have both been shunned in the New Zealand Flag Committee‘s search to find the new official country flag.

We know. We’re disappointed too.
The Committee has instead named these four designs as the finalists. Three of the designs feature the silver fern leaf, and the fourth features a spiralling black and white koru, a traditional Maori symbol for new life and creation.
New Zealand will pick their favourite in a referendum in late 2015, then that winner will go up against the current flag in a second vote next year.
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key originally pushed for the new flag, saying,
“We are a very proud and passionate nation but we don’t utilise our current flag to demonstrate the love we have of our country.”
Apparently he also wasn’t keen on everyone getting it confused for Australia’s flag all the time. Well, kindly let us speak for the rest of Australia, Mr. Key, when we say we would be delighted for New Zealand to keep their current flag, and we will graciously accept the ‘feels bad man’ flag as our very own so there is no future confusion.
For the love of all things larrikin, let us have the damn meme flag.
