
For the second time in four months, the Senate has this evening voted down the Federal Government’s Higher Education and Research Reform Bill – legislation that would uncap university fees – 34 votes to 30.
According to the ABC, Independent senators Nick Xenophon, Jacqui Lambie and Glenn Lazarus, Ricky Muir of the Motoring Enthusiasts Party, and Palmer United Party senator Dio Wang opposed the Bill.
Family First senator Bob Day reportedly supported the bill, along with Liberal Democrat David Leyonhjelm.
Consider everything fixed now, I guess (j/k everything’s still broken). The Guardian are reporting that Pyne is vowing to resurrect the legislation for a third time, as indicated by the following statement:

In the meantime, R.I.P. Christopher Pyne’s misguided fee deregulation reforms. Thank fuck we hardly knew ye.
