Comedian and late-night host Samantha Bee has apologised after calling White House advisor Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt” on her show Full Frontal, saying the expletive “crossed a line”.
Bee dropped the c-bomb on US President Donald Trump‘s daughter in response to a photo she posted to Twitter, showing her cradling son Theodore.
While the photo itself is wildly inoffensive, it was posted during a period of increased focus on President Trump’s immigration policies, and anger at American authorities for separating children from their families while detained at the US-Mexico border.

“Let me just say, one mother to another: do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless cunt,” Bee said.
Referencing Trump’s awkward old photos with Ivanka, Bee said “He listens to you. Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it.”
The backlash from the usual corners was to be expected, with many commentators criticising Bee for her poor taste.
Not as forseeable: the fact that Bee, who has bandied the c-bomb on her show quite often in the past, relented so quickly after the provocative remark. Taking to Twitter this morning, Bee called the word “inappropriate and inexcusable.”

The apology comes just a couple of days after sitcom star Roseanne Barr had her titular show canned by the ABC Network over a racist tweet directed at a former Obama aide, potentially suggesting a new reticence to call members of the White House establishment See You Next Tuesdays.
