Disgraced comedian Roseanne Barr has been pretty soundly roasted by the manufacturer of a popular sedative, after she appeared to hang some of the blame for a racist social media post on the drug.
Barr, whose very, very stupid tweet about a black former White House aide resulted in her show Roseanne being axed by America’s ABC Network, took to Twitter to comment on the debacle.
In a now-deleted message, Barr referenced the sleep aid Ambien, saying “it was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible.
“I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please.”
Barr later stated she purely blamed herself for the message, but continued to refer to “odd ambien experiences on [sic] tweeting late at night”.
no, i didnt i blamed myself. stop lying. Yes, I have had odd ambien experiences on tweeting late at night-like many other ppl do. I BLAME MYSELF OK? it’s just an explanation not an excuse, Ok, bully?

In turn, pharma giant Sanofi issued their own tweet, affirming that their product primarily makes people sleepy, not rampantly intolerant to people of other races.
People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.

We’re not flash hot on showering praise on a pharmaceutical giant for shading a fallen network star, but look: when your drug doesn’t turn people into bigots, it’s worth letting people know.
Alleged Ambien-influenced experiences sure are something, though…
