Rolf Harris will face court in London over seven new charges related to the indecent assault of women and girls between 1971 and 2005.

The 86-year-old former entertainer, who is serving a sentence of five years and nine months on similar charges, has been granted leave to appear by video link for the trial due to his advanced age and ill health. This is believed to be a first in the United Kingdom.

After Harris’ incarceration on the original charges in 2014, it was reported on numerous occasions that he was being investigated for additional crimes.

Harris has pled not guilty to seven charges of indecent assault, and one alternative charge of sexual touching.

The jury will be empanelled on Monday and it is expected that the trial will last four weeks.
