Politicians Call For More Pill-Testing After Success At Groovin The Moo

Politicians from across the political map have thrown their support behind pill-testing at music festivals after a successful trial at Canberra’s Groovin The Moo over the weekend.

Speaking to the ABC, Liberal MP Warren Entsch asked “how many funerals” would Australians need to attend before accurate pill-testing operations were enacted across the nation.

Labor MP Lisa Singh had a similar take, saying that any government that is serious about reducing the likelihood of harm to festival participants should support pill-testing operations without police interference.

NSW Greens MP Mereen Faruqi called on the state government to permit similar initiatives. She issued a statement saying “they need to get out of the way to allow experts to get on with the job of keeping people safe.”

Currently, both the NSW Government and the State Opposition are against similar initiatives.

Support from politicians comes as STA-SAFE, the consortium behind the Groovin The Moo initiative, release more data about the trial. Already, some key participants have expressed shock at the proportion of dodgy pills sold to punters.

Crucially, punters have also backed the move. With growing support from a fair few sectors, don’t expect the Groovin The Moo trial to be the last of its kind.
