PewDiePie Explains How His Joke About Joining ISIS Got Way Out Of Hand

Earlier this week, popular YouTuber and occasional shit-stirrer PewDiePie, otherwise known as Felix Kjellberg, has his Twitter account suspended, after the social media platform failed to see the funny side of his joke about joining ISIS.
The whole thing started when Kjellberg, a verified Twitter used with close to three million followers on the service, decided to remove his ‘tick’, as a joke on users who see the mark of verification as the ultimate status symbol.
Not long after, a parody Sky News account Tweeted that PewDiePie had actually lost his tick because of “suspected relations with ISIS”; Kjellberg thought it would be funny to go along with the joke, and confirmed the ‘news’ from his own account.
Whatever you make of this edgy attempt at humour, Twitter definitely wasn’t in favour, and they took away his posting privileges, before reinstating his account a short time later.
PewDiePie later released a YouTube video giving his take on the situation, and explaining how it goes to show that Twitter’s coveted ‘verified’ tick really ain’t worth shit.
The video comes with a language warning, because it wouldn’t be PewDiePie if it didn’t. Here you go:
