There’s another amazing lineup of artists both local and international showing around town(s) this week including Anthony Lister, Luke Taaffe, Tomoo Gokita, Marcus Oakley, Stefan Marx, the brothers MOFFITT.MOFFITT and heaps more. Here’s our picks for this week…

Who ANTHONY LISTER
What Brisbane born Anthony Lister is a veritable celebrity of local contemporary art – street art bible ‘Beyond the Street’ just named him as one of the 100 Leading Figures in Urban Art and he’s recently done solo shows in Canada, New York and Italy. He also a madcap adventurer on a loose spree so while he’s back in town let’s make the most of it. He’s getting together with Meggs, Ears and webuyyourkids for Project 5 – a pop up art and live music event where the artists create their works live then they’re auctioned off for charity. Tres philanthropic.

Who KATE FAULDS & KAERIN HAGLEY
What Kate Faulds and Kaerin Hagley will present a collaborative installation that explores the notion of an ‘interior landscape’. Blending Kate’s video projections and Kaerin’s hand-size sculptures, the exhibition titled “Re: Birds and Chairs” is influenced by situations where projection meets object, inside meets outside and fantasy meets reality.

Who MOFFITT.MOFFITT.
What NO, MORE is the first solo show from brothers Andrew and Mark Moffitt, exploring excess and restraint within music culture. These talented siblings work together on a range of projects with expertise in Branding, Creative Direction, Art Direction, Graphic Design, Digital Motion and Online Design, but will be bringing their own inspiring work to the table with their debut show this year, challenging what is constructive and destructive for music culture.

Where MART Gallery – 156 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills NSW

Who CAROLINE ROTHWELL
What Transmutationism, is the latest collection for artist, Caroline Rothwell. Through the creation of her hybrid animals and plants, with their twisted sense of scale and environment – a sort of ‘nature on acid’ – Rothwell’s works cross-examine the relationships between humans and the natural environment. Says Curator Clare Lewis, ‘Rothwell devises fantastical species and ambiguous narratives which mimic the naïve exuberance of Disney, with a toxic edge’.
When Opens 21 August til 11 September
Where TOLARNO GALLERY – Level 4, 104 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC
