Huge news. Local-grown hero and star of Orange is the New Black’ Yael Stone has been nabbed for a SBS crime drama series ‘Deep Water’. The show also stars Aussie Game of Thrones’ talent Noah Taylor.

The show is from Blackfella Films, who also produced ‘Redfern Now’ and ‘First Contact’. SBS is describing ‘Deep Water’ as a cross-genre, cross-platform event, featuring a four-part drama series, a feature documentary and unique web content. Blackfella Films’ are chuffed about the talent they’ve scored, obviously, with Miranda Dear saying:
“We are absolutely delighted to have the immense talents of Noah Taylor and Yael Stone joining forces with a superb supporting cast for this gripping crime thriller set in the melting pot of Australia’s most iconic beachside suburb”.

The show is about two detectives, played by Stone and Taylor, who uncover a a web of connections and cover-ups as they pursue a case around a brutal murder.

It’s a pretty big deal – Stone’s appearance as Morello in ‘Orange is the New Black’ has brought her international acclaim, and it’s good to see her killing it again on local screens.
The show will air this year.
