NSW Issues Health Alert For The 7,000+ People Who Flew In From Melb Airport This Week

NSW / Melbourne Airport

Like clockwork, NSW Health has issued a public health alert to the 7,000 people who have recently entered the state from Victoria. Here we, and I can barely make it to the end of this sentence without sighing in dread, go again.

NSW is calling on anyone in the state who was at Melbourne Airport, Terminal 4 (Jetstar) from 4.45am to 2pm on Tuesday, 9 February to immediately isolate, get tested, and remain in isolation, regardless of the test result – yep, even if it’s negative.

In Victoria, Terminal 4 has been added to the Tier 1 exposure sites list as of Friday morning.

“Out of an abundance of caution, NSW Health is asking anyone who is a household contact of someone who visited Terminal 4 on 9 February at the above time to stay in isolation until that person receives a negative test result,” a statement read.

Anyone in NSW who was at any terminal at Melbourne Airport on the 7th and 8th of February must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative test result as well.

NSW Health is currently contacting approximately 7,000 people who have entered the state from Victoria after travelling through the airport during the above dates, to make sure they’re up to scratch with the new requirements.

Meanwhile, from 11.59pm tonight, Victoria will enter a snap five-day lockdown in response to The Holiday Inn quarantine hotel outbreak. Its case total remains at 13.

Anyone in Victoria who has visited Terminal 4 at Melbourne Airport on Tuesday, 9 February between 4.45am and 2pm must isolate, test, and remain isolated for 14 days, regardless of the result. You can find a full list of current exposure sites right here.

The state recorded five new cases on Friday morning, taking its total number of active cases to 19.
