SIGN OF THE TIMES: North Korea declared war on the US, and American Twitter has responded with memes.
North Korea’s top diplomat, Han Song Ryol, told The Associated Press on Thursday that America had essentially declared war on them first by putting dictator Kim Jong Un on its list of sanctioned individuals earlier this month.
“The Obama administration went so far to have the impudence to challenge the supreme dignity of the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] in order to get rid of its unfavourable position during the political and military showdown with the DPRK,” he said.
“The United States has crossed the red line in our showdown. We regard this thrice-cursed crime as a declaration of war.”
Although North Korea is already heavily sanctioned thanks to its frequent play dates with nuclear weapons, this is the first time Kim Jong Un himself has appeared on the list of sanctioned individuals.
