Muji’s Pristine Homewares Are Coming To Australia

Muji, the functionality-coveting Japanese lifestyle emporium which specialises in making you feel like you’re a worldly Rick Owens-clad art dealer whose apartment has been featured in Dwell – twice – and has two cats named Ziggy and Lucifer, is making its way Down Under.

The brand’s comprehensive product range – bicycles, furniture, apparel, stationery, homewares and more – has been sold across more than 600 global outlets with supremely zen visual merchandising in Europe, North America and Asia and will soon invade the Australian market with the brand’s managing director, Masaaki Kanai, confirming last week that the company’s first ever Australian store will open at Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne.

“Sydney and Melbourne were the priority candidate cities to open our stores,” he said. “Melbourne was a city that matched the image of Muji.”

Another Melbourne store is slated to open sometime next year at the Lonsdale Street Emporium development. A Sydney store is planned to open shortly after.
