The death toll from today’s 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico has been revised to at least 119.
Citing city and state officials, AP reported that horrifying figure as rescue efforts continue in the nation’s capital.
The Los Angeles Times has reported 105 casualties, including 30 deaths in Mexico City alone. Eight more were reported killed in the state of Mexico, which surrounds Mexico city. In the state of Morelos, 54 deaths have been confirmed; in Puebla, that number has reached 13.
At least 44 buildings have collapsed in Mexico City after the tremor, according to Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera.
Mancera said as many as 60 people have been pulled alive from the rubble in the city. Citizens and emergency response crews are still attending to the most severely impacted by the quake.

Some animals have also been found alive in the ruins.
