The Turnbull Government has announced that we finally have another Sex Discrimination Commissioner in Australia – finally, finally, finally.
Meet Kate Jenkins – she’s from Melbourne, she’s worked closely with the VIC Police on sexual discrimination-related matters, she champions the ‘Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission‘ (VEOHRC), and she’s very passionate about gender equality, particularly regarding diversity in sport.
And she’s over the moon about her appointment, which is bloody fair enough:

Her appointment is particularly important, because the role of Sex Discrimination Commissioner was abandoned/forgotten about for five whole months after the departure of Elizabeth Broderick. Suppose sex-related harassment and diversity issues aren’t really a problem for the vastly male bodies in government, y’know?
ANYWAY. Congratulations, Kate Jenkins! We can’t wait to see what you bring the role.
