McDonalds Begins Trial Of Home Delivery Service In Sydney

Listen up, Sunday hangover bros. Exquisite purveyors of grease, Maccas, have finally caught on to the intense laziness that permeates the Australian psyche and have kicked off a trial of their McDelivery service in Sydney.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the service – currently only operating from McDonald’s North Parramatta branch – has been quietly operating per a soft launch since November 27, offering local deliveries on orders over $25.

The service of your dreams, enabling nuggets on demand, sans pants and sans moving, was reportedly chosen to be trialled in North Parramatta due to population density. However, as SMH points out, the McDelivery area encompasses suburbs that boast the second highest rate of overweight or obese adults in the state. 😐

Jane Martin from the Obesity Policy Coalition lamented the consequences of the service, bringing fast food so easily into homes by stating to SMH, “These chains have huge marketing budgets, provide unhealthy food at low cost and are now home delivering, which makes it harder and harder for people to make healthier choices.”

However, in the words of a 13 year old girl SMH called upon to add her 2c on the issue and its associated concerns with rates of obesity, “It’s not unhealthy. If you’re fat you shouldn’t [eat it]. But if you’re skinny you should.’’ Hm.
