Matthew Barney’s Cremaster Cycle Coming Soon

The darling of the New York art scene and Björk’s baby daddy, Matthew Barney, is a freak of visionary artistic talent – his extraordinary multimedia art experience the Cremaster Cycle broke ground and made critics and audiences pee their pants. Get your adult incontinence products ready, because this July the major video works of “one of the most imaginative and brilliant achievements in the history of avant-garde cinema” are showing at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).

Matthew Barney on Film will feature the individual episodes of the Cremaster Cycle screening over three nights July 3-5. On Sunday 11 July ACMI will present the Cremaster Cycle marathon – a rare opportunity to witness one of the most ambitious, arresting series of films ever made.

Also in the program is Drawing Restraint 9 a mind blowing cinematic collaboration between Barney and his girlfriend of equal genius, Björk. An overwhelming, visually astounding movie/installation piece that combines Barney’s unique visual sensibility with Björk’s electro/orchestral soundtrack. Heaven.

Do not miss this.

Matthew Barney on Film runs from 1-11 July 2010 at ACMI.
