Logan Paul Returns To YouTube, Pledges $1M Donation To Suicide Prevention

Logan Paul has returned to YouTube with a video raising awareness of suicide prevention services, three weeks after uploading a vlog featuring the body of a suicide victim.

The new video, entitled Suicide: Be Here Tomorrow, shows a contrite Paul discuss the earlier upload.

“And I know I’ve made mistakes. I know I’ve let people down,” Paul said. “But what happens when you’re given an opportunity to make a difference in the world?”

Paul, 22, admitted that he had never personally known anyone who took their own life, and that ignorance influenced the thought process behind his December 31 video.

The clip goes on to show Paul in conversation with American National Suicide Prevention Lifeline director Dr. John Draper, and mental health advocate and suicide survivor Kevin Hines.

Both men told Paul that engaging in an open, compassionate conversation about suicide is the best way forward.

Paul said he’d donate $1 million (AUD $1.23 million) to various suicide prevention organisations, with $250,000 (AUD $309,000) immediately going to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

“It’s time to start a new chapter in my life as I continue to educate myself and others on suicide,” Paul said. “I am humble and thankful to say this is just the beginning.”

Paul has a young subscriber base of 16 million, so his outreach may just do some good. You can watch the clip below:
