Jeremy Clarkson Officially Dismissed By BBC, Could Face Police Investigation

The BBC has officially put Jeremy Clarkson ~into the bin~, as the broadcaster has announced it will not renew the Top Gear host’s contract, following a controversial incident with one of the show’s producers, Oisin Tymon. Word has it that a fracas ensued after Clarkson demanded to have a steak at his hotel room one night while filming Top Gear, only to have the request denied – the kitchen was closed. The incident has directly led to Clarkson’s drop by the BBC.

Clarkson, praying for you and everything (kidding. couldn’t care less), but I hear One Direction has a vacancy. Keen?

BBC Director Tony Hall justified the decision by saying:

“For me a line has been crossed. There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations. “This decision should in no way detract from the extraordinary contribution that Jeremy Clarkson has made to the BBC.”

Clarkson had already been skating on extremely thin ice before the incident with the producer, as last year the BBC issued a “final warning” to the host after he used offensive language during filming of the show.

Jeremy Clarkson is yet to make a comment on the BBC’s decision, although his twitter bio now reads that he “used to be” a Top Gear presenter.

Police may be investigating the physical and verbal attack on producer Oisin Tymon, according to The ABC. The Guardian reports that the attack by Clarkson induced “swelling and bleeding to his [Tymon’s] lip.” The altercation was allegedly halted by a witness after 30 seconds, and Tymon reportedly did not retaliate.
