J.K. Rowling Shuts Down Racists, Tweets Her Love For Hermione Being A WoC

The announcement for the casting for UK stage version of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ happened today, and we were delighted to hear that talented actress and Woman of Colour Noma Dumezweni would be the theatre version of Hermione Granger

Others were not so thrilled. Not because they were concerned that Dumezweni wouldn’t do the part justice, or that she didn’t suit the role; they were upset because of the colour of her skin.
All day, Twitter has been flooded with douchenozzles like the below:
I know, right? Firstly, gross racist people are gross and racist. Secondly, these people very clearly missed the extremely obvious message of the Harry Potter franchise: all that ‘Mudblood’ stuff was actually an analogy for racism, and one of the main lessons is that equality is necessary.
But who better to re-explain that than HP author, avid Twitter user and wonderful human J.K. Rowling, who is always around to calm shit down and save the day: she said that she absolutely ‘loves’ that a Person of Colour will be the next Hermione
She also proceeded to pulverise the theory of all of the racists (who were complaining that ‘she doesn’t fit the description in the books’), by actually repeating Hermione’s literary descriptors. And skin colour ain’t a one of ’em:

YAAAAAASSSSSSSS!
