It Took A While, But Someone Has Been Arrested Over A Mannequin Challenge

The most perfect arc of the life of a meme begins with its genesis on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, and ends with someone getting arrested because of it. No meme can truly say it has outlived its usefulness until someone goes to jail for it.

The latest cab off the rank is none other than the Mannequin Challenge – everyone’s favourite meme where a bunch of people stand around posing in freeze frame. Basically, it’s super easy for celebrities to ruin, and they have done so.
And now it’s into the crime phase. Police in Madison County, Alabama arrested 49-year-old Kenneth White after they saw a particularly great mannequin challenge involving twenty-odd dudes recreating a drive-by shooting.
The only problem was that White wasn’t supposed to possess firearms due to the fact he is a felon.
Was it worth it? I’d wager yes.
Local news said police also arrested 23-year-old Terry Brown for “possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering and promoting prison contraband,” while acting on White’s warrant, which if we’re honest sounds like a little bit of an overextension.
But there you go. Cops look at memes, and they will arrest you for your illegal memes.
