Interpol Reveals Falls Fest Sideshows So Y’all Can Gurn On The Bright Lights

Good news for those who love the Australian festival season, but are generally suspicious of sunshine and warmth: Interpol have announced two sideshows to accompany their Falls Festival appearances, meaning you can enjoy their chilly post-punk revivalism without the need to wear shorts.

The New York City trio are slated to bring the hits from their brooding catalogue for a show at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Friday January 4, before making their Sydney Opera House Concert Hall debut on Saturday January 5.

In addition to blessing crowds with hits from their scene-defining early records and their remarkably strong 2014 effort El Pintor, Interpol will be touring Australia for the first time since the release of this year’s Marauder.

The latter record’s tracks, which boast a looser feel than the ice-pick precision found in their earlier work, might just work in the Australian summertime afterall.
