Instagram Will Soon Allow You To Post Attention-Smashing 60 Second Videos

If fifteen second long Instagram videos aren’t long enough for you, then you’re in luck – the company has announced that they’re allowing 1 minute long videos on the platform very soon. That’s pretty long.
So get ready for all those shitty selfie videos of your mates talking about God knows what for 15 seconds, but they’re 45 seconds longer. Now that’s a scary thought.
The company reckons that video watching on the platform has risen by 40% in the past year, so you can see why they might be making some serious moves in the area.
Instagram hasn’t announced whether they plan to accompany this release with proper in-app editing tools that might make watching a minute long video a compelling proposition, but it’s safe to assume at this point that something like that will likely be coming to the platform.
It’s widely speculated that this decision was made because Instagram ads can be up to a minute long, and it was slightly jarring seeing long branded videos in the same feed as your regular punter’s 15 second offerings. Well there ya go.
