In Case You Forgot To Look Outside: Tonight’s Supermoon Was A Bit Gorgeous

It might feel like we had 1,000,000 supermoons this year, but, in reality, we only had three, and we only really noticed them because the one last month was a rare big deal one and no one would shut up about it.
Even if we have seen a couple this year and we’ve been told by a bunch of Neil Degrasse-Tyson-esque killjoys that, in fact, the moon only appears very fractionally bigger and it’s not really all that super, it’s still a pretty cool thing to witness.
Tonight’s supermoon was a particular treat, coinciding with the peak of the Geminid Meteor Shower as the Earth passes through a giant cloud of space bullshit (technical term) that burns up and explodes as it tries and fails to connect with the ground.
As per usual, all of the more magnificent photos will come when the supermoon rolls around to the result of the world (note: not literally, that is not how space works), but, for now, we can make do with our own fair dinkum, ridgy-didge Aussie moon photography.

Tradition dictates that most photos are somewhat blurry pictures of an intimidatingly bright orb, which is very understandable given that no person alive carries a tripod with them everywhere, and people have not strayed far from that territory.

Some folks managed to capture the particularly persistent moon around dawn and dusk:

Others still were using it to re-charge their crystals (not sure of the science behind this one):
My personal favourite, though, was this – two dogs entranced by mysterious orb:
A happy supermoon to all, and to all a good night.
