Amongst the many bugs, hiccups, blunders, debacles, donnybrooks and fiascos that accompanied the rollout of Apple’s new iOS 9 – sluggish iPhones, massive amounts of data chewed up – a potentially more serious problem has begun to affect users.
In the midst of upgrading their devices to the new operating system, which launched last week, some users have discovered that their iPhones are freezing, leaving them stuck in the middle of the process with a ‘Slide To Upgrade’ screen that won’t budge.
The ‘Slide To Upgrade’ problem, which seems to largely be affecting users skipping from iOS 7 right to iOS 9, has users legitimately worried that their phones are bricked, with many taking to Twitter to vent their anger and sarcasm.
Right now I would like to see “slide to upgrade” tatooed on to Tim Cook’s face. http://t.co/0UEnEguDQw #ios9

So far my favourite (and only) #IOS9 feature is the “slide to upgrade” screen.

(Presumably, these were posted on the desktop version of Twitter).
Apple, who promise that they have their engineers “working 24/7” to fix iOS 9 bugs, recently offered a workaround for the problem, but it has users even angrier, as it more or less amounts to ‘wipe your phone and start again.’
If nothing else, this serves as a timely reminder to regularly back your shit up, as you never know when Apple will go and pull something like this on you. FWIW, the company maintains that the issue “will be resolved soon in an upcoming iOS update.”
Meanwhile, the amusing iOS 9 glitches continue, unless …
