Hasbro Feel Disturbance In The Force, Add Rey To ‘Star Wars’ Monopoly

Hooooooo boy, the backlash is strong with this one.
Hasbro have realised that people were quite legitimately pissed off that Rey had been left out of some merchandise, particularly Star Wars Monopoly
The hashtag #WheresRey went absolutely mental as Star Wars fans started asking why Rey wasn’t featured as a playable Monopoly character, but Darth Vader – whose only appearance in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ is his old, decrepit helmet being talked at by his grandson – for some reason is.
A little girl’s handwritten, vitriolic letter to Hasbro even went viral, for its very valid and logical point of ‘Without Rey, THERE IS NO FORCE AWAKENS! It awakens in her!’:

While excuses such as ‘we didn’t want to spoil a key plotline!’ (spoil WHAT plotline, exactly?), and ‘Darth Vader is more recognisable’ (sure, but he still isn’t the main character of TFA, is he?) were bandied about, Hasbro’s finally come to their senses.
They gave a statement to Entertainment Weekly, saying they’d be adding Rey to the board game:

“We love the passion fans have for Rey, and are happy to announce that we will be making a running change to include her in the Monopoly: Star Wars game available later this year.”
