Sports Journo Stood Down From Sky News After “Foul-Mouthed Rant” At Charity Do

If there’s a more time-honoured tradition in Australian media than the sweary rant at a charity do, I’d like to hear about it.

Sky News and Fox Sports presenter Greg Thomson has been stood down pending an investigation into leaked footage of him going troppo at the charity lunch for disability support group Inala. The footage was originally posted by Ray Hadley at 2GB after being provided by another gala attendee.

Behold:

In the footage he is seen swearing at guests before being booed and having the microphone taken off him by organisers.

You can get offended by swear words, well I don’t give a shit because I’m going to say it. You’re all fucked off your head. Can everyone shut up, shut up! Seriously. No, shut your mouth. Put your manners back in and shut your mouth. You’re appalling. Your behaviour has been disgraceful. Pull your finger out, put your manners back in and shut the hell up.

Bit much for a charity gig! The Australian reports that Thomson donated his time as MC for the event, which was attended by around 400 corporate guests.

“Greg Thomson was taken off air and suspended immediately pending an investigation,” a spokesperson for News Corp – which owns Sky News – told The Oz.
